Here are some details of our agility courses.

Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced handler, in it for fun or competition, our agility trainers can help you!  Training equipment is also available for private hire.

We run an 8 week Beginners Agility Courses, for those who have had very little or no experience in the sport. It is intended to be a bit of fun for you and your dog, but what we teach will give you good grounding if you decide to continue on to a competitive level.

However, this course is not competitive – it is designed to be fun!

The course is run on an informal basis in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in the gorgeous surroundings of Oakwood Park Kennels!

The teaching focuses on kindness and fairness; we want both you and your dog to enjoy the agility classes. Hopefully not only will you both enjoy the course, but it will also help perfect those obedience commands and strengthen your off-lead control. Not only that, but it is healthier than going down to the gym and a lot more fun! Dogs of any age can take part, so long as they are fit and friendly!

More details:-

The cost of the course is £40 (weekly hand-outs included), based on one handler and one dog.

We will ask for payment at the end of the first week, so if after the first class you decide that agility isn’t for you, that’s fine.  If we decide that your dog isn’t suitable for agility because of health or temperament, we will  suggest alternative training.

We are aiming to keep the class size fairly small so that everyone gets lots of practice each week.
But that does mean that places are on a first come first served basis.  There will be at least two assistants each week, so you will get plenty of individual attention. By the end of the course, you and your dog will be familiar with the different pieces of agility equipment and how to negotiate them safely, as well as having had a lot of fun.

What will you need?

Your dog will need a comfortable collar (preferably flat) and a nice long lead (4ft leather leads are preferable)
You will need something to motivate your dog, either some tasty titbits or their favourite toy, whichever your dog prefers.
As for yourself, please think about what to wear before you come – high heels and agility don’t mix!
